Table 1: Covered distance as measured by the speed module (in kilometers). In the rst column, the space covered by the vehicle as indicated by the milestones; in the others, the corresponding estimates obtained from the integration over time of the speed. Data shown in Tab. 1, collect results obtained in 4 runs of the following experiment: while the sys- tem is running, images coming from the VCR are also displayed on a monitor; whenever a milestone is encountered, a human operator presses a button, thereby causing the system to record the estimated covered distance. Results reported in Tabs. 2a, and 2b suggest that our method may guarantee an accuracy at least com- parable with that of commercial equipments.

"... In PAGE 5: ... A number of specific issues must be addressed to obtain the full benefit of this NDE method: The full-scale equipment for ferro-magnetic active tagging NDE of GFRP composite C-channels consists of three major components: excitation equipment, measuring equipment, and signal processing equipment which have been mentioned above. Table1 presents the list of equipment proposed in the inspection system. Most of the additional instruments are commercially available, but the electromagnetic exciter and the... ..."

Table 3. A comparison of sludge stabilization options. Although anaerobic lagoons are inexpensive and easy to operate, they are seldom suited for any but the most remote locations because of their nefarious odor. Aerated lagoons have an organic loading capacity similar to anaerobic lagoons with no offensive odor, but aeration equipment is initially expensive with continuing operations and maintenance costs. Composting yields soil conditioner, which is a commercially valuable end product. However, composting requires mechanical dewatering prior to stacking in static piles or windrows, and static piles must be aerated while windrows require periodic mixing. Anaerobic digestors are very popular for stabilizing sludge from municipal waste treatment plants, but they are expensive and their management requires specialized knowledge of their microbiology.
