Abstract: EvE is a functional language designed for the research on programming parallel computers,
especially dataflow machines. The language combines a simple syntax and semantics with
most of the features widely used in functional programming: strong typing, higher order
functions, delayed evaluation, non-strict functions and data types. This report defines the
syntax of the language and informally describes its semantics on the basis of examples. A
