Abstract:

Abstract- This paper deals with embedded systems modelling, mixed hardware/software codesign, and more generally structured codesign methodology for avionics systems. This methodology is based on two main concepts: multi-formalism specifications and a unified system model. The multi-formalism concept allows to combine partial specifications expressed in various formalisms. As a matter of fact, an embedded systems specification is usually spanned through more than one formalism, each one coveing one type of system functions. Partial system specifications are composed into a unified system model which also serves as a basis for hardware/software partitioning and analysis. The defined system model supports the main systemlevel concepts expressed in specifications formalisms and has lower abstract levels covering the behavioural and the register transfer levels. I.
