Abstract: types can be used to hide the representations of objects from clients, even though the objects themselves have access to the internal representations. Information about the names of private fields and methods, however, is still exposed. Their account is in some sense more fundamental than ours: our calculus directly supports hiding, and does not attempt to describe it in more basic concepts.
