Abstract: This paper describes an active network based design of a QoS adaptive video multicast service, called VideoCast, that is overlaid over the existing IP multicast service. VideoCast supports a flexible, receiver-oriented resource allocation scheme that allows a receiver to select a mix of resource reservation and best effort services to be used for the delivery of a video stream. It implements a dynamic QoS control function that isolates video traffic using resource reservations from that using... (Update)
