Abstract: The invention of the Web and the popularity of file peer-to-peer based applications had a major impact on the way the Internet is used today. The characteristics and requirements of these two types of applications differ significantly: Web traffic consists of many short flows that comprise at best a few tens of packets. The most important performance metric for Web traffic is the transfer time. Peer-to-peer traffic on the other hand results often in very large flows for which the most... (Update)
