Management of Configurable Protocols for Multimedia Application (1994) [6 citations — 4 self]
Abstract:
Fixed end-system protocols are not able to support the wide range of application requirements on top of current networks without adding overhead in form of unnecessary functionality for multiple combinations of application requirements and networks. The Da CaPo (Dynamic Configuration of Protocols) system dynamically configures protocols to support a wide range of application requirements and to increase protocol performance. Application requirements are specified in form of an objective function to pass the decision for particular Quality of Service (QoS) parameters to Da CaPo. Da CaPo in turn selects and negotiates an appropriate protocol and QoS with the peer system. The connection management efficiently negotiates and manages configurable protocols and the corresponding connections.
