Abstract: Optical burst switching (OBS) is one of the most important switching technologies for future IP over WDM networks. A major issue in OBS networks is burst assembly, in which IP packets that have the same destination and quality of service requirement can be aggregated into a burst. In this paper, for the first time we establish a finite queueing model for burst assembly in OBS networks. We first study the exact model and develop an algorithm to find the transition matrix in order to obtain state ... (Update)
