Abstract: This report summarizes some properties of matrices E ∈ R^(k+l)×(k+l) with the general structure E = E(A, B, C, X) := (1.1) where A ∈ R^k×k, B; C ∈ R^k×l, X ∈ R^t×t, l ≥ 1, usually k ≥ l (often k >> l), and k + l =: m. Moreover, a survey of methods for solving linear systems with system matrix (1.1) is given. It will become evident in Section 3 that the ratio k/l has a strong influence on the efficiency of these methods (Update)
