Abstract: We study a hybrid
nite element/
nite dierence simulation of the timedependent
elastic wave equation in two and three dimensions. The method is hybrid in
the sense that dierent numerical methods,
nite elements and
nite dierences, are used
in dierent subdomains. The goal of this approach is to combine the exibility of
nite
elements and the eciency of
nite dierences.
An explicit hybrid method for the elastic wave equation is presented where the
nite
dierence schemes and
nite element schemes... (Update)
