Abstract: In this habilitation thesis ("Habilitationsschrift"), we describe novel techniques for analysing the behaviour of complex communication systems by means of advanced stochastic modelling. We are interested in performance and dependability properties (which aspects are subsumed by the term "performability") and focus on Markovian models derived from high-level specifications. It is well known that the notorious problem of state space explosion can make the storing and analysis of large models... (Update)
