Abstract: The Internet has changed considerably the scale of distributed systems, motivating the demand for more flexible communication models and systems. Individual point-to-point and synchronous communications, which tend to lead to rigid and static applications, are making way for the more loosely coupled interaction such as is supported by a publish-subscribe paradigm.
