Abstract: A simple model of tag-mediated partner selection for agents playing the IPD is described. Experiments show that even very simple tag mechanisms alter the population dynamics dramatically, making it easier for populations to reach reciprocal cooperation, to maintain that cooperation, and to avoid periods of mutual defection.
