Abstract: This paper addresses the issues that arise when having to devise meaningful annotation and evaluation schemes for summarization of spontaneous speech. It suggests a novel word-based annotation and evaluation scheme for intrinsic evaluations. A corpus of 24 spontaneous dialogues is annotated using this scheme and inter-coder agreement results as well as intrinsic summary accuracy results for different automatic summarization methods are reported. 1 Introduction Adequate and meaningful...
