Abstract: In this review current theories of the visual perception of three-dimensional form are introduced. Starting with a brief overview of lowlevel visual processes, which contribute to the recognition of 3D objects, such as the perception of structure from shading or texture, this article mainly concentrates on advanced theories, which try to explain object recognition from a more elaborate point of view. The differences between object- and viewer-centered representations are treated, as well as the ... (Update)
