Abstract: actor structures characterizes the minimal semantic requirements for an actor language and allows for components to be defined using multiple languages. It also provides a framework for high-level, programming-languge-independent specification of individual actor behaviors. Interaction semantics abstracts away from the details of a component's internal activity and is a basis for reasoning about safety, liveness, and non-interference properties of open components.
