Abstract: A dissertation presented to the Faculty of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences of Brandeis University, Waltham, Massachusetts by Simon D. Levy This thesis attempts to provide an answer to the question What is the mathematical basis of cognitive representations? The answer we present is a novel connectionist framework called Innite RAAM. We show how this framework satises the cognitive requirements of systematicity, compositionality, and scalable representational capacity, while... (Update)
