Abstract: Workflow Management Systems (WfMS) have been adopted as a practical solution to automate the execution of business processes in order to use resources efficiently and make organizations more competitive. Workflow activities usually have a very coarse granularity, are long-lived and business process dependent. The semantics of activities, including the semantics of associated invoked applications and resources, are not known by the WfMS. As a result, inconsistencies may arise from the concurrent ...
