Abstract:

In this paper, we investigate the performance of turbo codes when applied to a frequency hopped spread spectrum system with partial-band interference, full-band thermal noise, and Rayleigh fading. We consider two types of channel side information: knowledge that the transmitted bit is jammed or unjammed and knowledge of the instantaneous fading amplitudes. Simulation is performed for coherent and noncoherent reception, variable number of bits per hop, and cases where side information is available or unavailable to the decoder.
