Abstract: this paper, we describe three efforts toward
effecting practical and secure operating system
advances with smartcards. In Section 2, we describe
an augmented Kerberos V5 authentication
protocol that uses a smartcard for enhanced security.
In Section 3, we describe an extension to
the UNIX filesystem that offers a convenient and
friendly user interface to the use of a smartcard
for secure, personal storage. Finally in Section 4,
we describe our plans to implement the Internet
Protocol on a... (Update)
