Abstract:
Abstract This paper describes a number of tactical interventions that were employed in the School of Electronics during the 2000/2001 academic year to improve student retention, and assesses their effectiveness. These interventions have been successful in reducing student withdrawals from 16.8 % in 1999/2000 to 9.3 % in 2000/2001. Additional measures to improve retention further in 2001/2002 are described and initial retention figures are given.
