Abstract: With the ever-widening processor-memory performance
gap, efficient code optimization for memory
accesses is necessary for good program performance.
This requires detailed knowledge about the frequency
and causes of cache misses in the code. This paper describes
methods for generating Cache Miss Equations
that provide an analytical representation of the cache
misses in loop-oriented scientific code. The paper also
shows how the equations can be used to guide code optimizations
for improving... (Update)
