Abstract: The integration of systems from various suppliers in communication networks, requires standardization of network management protocols. The Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) was developed for the Internet protocol suite in 1988 and has found several implementations since. To cover the deficiencies encountered in this protocol, a new version was developed.
