Abstract: In this paper, we propose a simple extension to the multicast service to explicitly and efficiently count the number of group members using a hop-by-hop approach. This information is mainly useful for service providers to implement some mechanisms such as multicast pricing policies and bandwidth sharing strategies. (Update)
