Abstract: This paper will present one micro-based test of the determinants of growth, focusing directly on the link between increased product variety and productivity. The idea that productivity is enhanced by increases in product variety is central to the endogenous growth models considered by Romer (1990) and Grossman and Helpman (1991). We will evaluate the link between product variety and productivity using sectoral data for South Korea and Taiwan. 1 (Update)
