Abstract: The Guaranteed (G) service class, specified by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF),
provides hard guarantees on the maximum end-to-end packet delay that a flow may encounter
in an integrated services packet network. The G service class is based on an endto
-end rate reservation mechanism, i.e., the delay bound that a G service flow gets is met
by reserving a rate R at each output interface along the flow's path. A central component
