Widening is shown to be strictly more powerful than finite Galois connections in abstract interpretation.

Abstract: We show that for the static analysis of programming languages (with infinitely many programs), the use of an infinite domain with widening/narrowing is strictly more powerful that the use of a finite domain with a Galois connection based abstraction. (Update)
