....8 3. 3 Parallel Applications In order to assess the behavior of the SP2 when running complete applications, we have selected four benchmarks (MG, LU, SP and BT) from the NAS Parallel Benchmarks (NPB) version 2 [Bai95] a shallow water modelling code (SWM) from the ParkBench suite of benchmarks [WF95], and a parallel simulator (PS) developed by our group [Mig95] Next we briefly describe these programs.
