....[30] For a given query, the descriptions are used to rank component databases according to how similar they are to the query. The user then selects component databases to search for the desired documents. In WAIS, more than one local databases can be searched at the same time. In Search Broker [44, 45], each database is manually assigned one or two words as the subject or category keywords. Each user query consists of two parts: the subject part and the regular query part.
