The company name in my certificate indicates correctly that I work for a telecommunications company; it does not say whether or not I am authorized to accept payment for phone bills. Possibly, schemes such as PolicyMaker [BFL96, BFS98] or SDSI [RL96] will solve this problem. But enumerating all possible roles for a certificate is easy; enumerating the roles it may not fill is very hard. Furthermore, the distinction may be too subtle for a program.
