....the area of distributed knowledge based systems. We feel that the object oriented modeling approach may support a proper distribution of the various reasoning tasks that are involved, by taking the natural activity of the actors in a domain as the guideline in developing an intelligent system. See [Eliens, 1991] and [Eliens, 1992c] 4.1.3 Integrated Programming Environment Developing distributed systems is error prone. As an essential part of our software platform we need to have some basic tools for debugging and monitoring a system developed in Active C DLP. We intend to model our programming ....

....this paper we will study the semantics of the distributed logic programming language DLP [Eliens, 1992] In particular we will pay attention to the communication mechanism of DLP, that supports an asynchronous rendez vous with distributed backtracking over the resulting answers. In previous work ([Eliens, 1991b] and [Eliens and de Vink, 1992] we have studied the semantics of the synchronous rendez vous with backtracking. This paper extends our previous work by providing a solution that enables to maintain search completeness when backtracking over the results of an asynchronous call. DLP is a ....
....powerful method call by rendezvous. For non concurrent examples of extending Prolog with object oriented features we refer to [Zaniolo, 1984] or [Yokoi, 1986] A prototype of DLP has been implemented in a variant of the language introduced in [America, 1987] and is described in [Eliens, 1992] In [Eliens, 1991b] the implementation of a distributed medical expert system is described, illustrating the distribution of control over multiple active objects using DLP. Semantics In this paper we will focus mainly on the behavioral aspects of DLP. Following the logic programming without logic approach (cf. ....
