Our work is a rethinking of the instruction selection process, attempting to create the hardware and its software simultaneously. Template generation via clusters of primitive operations has been explored before in [11, 12, 13]. These techniques are used to identify regular sequential sets of operations for use in ASIP design or high level synthesis.
