....CDuce [20] extends XDuce into a full programming language and adds higher order functions and other language features. The ideas from XDuce, which have also influenced the design of the XQuery type system, are currently being integrated into C# in the Xtatic project with similar goals as ours [40]. Another related language is CircusDTE [41] which is a simple transformation language with pattern matching and type checking mechanisms reminiscent of those in XDuce. XM# [42] is a functional language related to HaXml and 12 WASH CGI. Its type system uses a notion of type indexed rows to model ....

....influence on ours and some of our future plans include adapting to C Duce some of Hosoya s insightful ideas on sequence transformations. C Duce is not the only project that started from or was deeply influenced by XDuce. Among the projects inspired by XDuce those closest to C Duce are Xtatic [9] and XQuery [3, 7] The goals for Xtatic and C Duce are similar in that they both try to integrate XDuce features in a larger design and less XML specific language. C Duce builds on the functional flavour of XDuce and extends it to a full fledged functional language, whereas Xtatic goes toward OO ....

The ideas from XDuce, which have also influenced the design of the XQuery type system, are currently being integrated into C# in the Xtatic project with similar goals as ours [32]. XM# [33] is a functional language related to HaXml and WASH CGI. Its type system uses a notion of type indexed rows to model DTD. Whereas subtyping is an essential aspect in XDuce, XM# is based on parametric polymorphism. Apparently, no implementation of XM# is available. The language fxt [34] ....

....between tables, objects and documents, but it is much harder to come up with a design that gracefully unifies these separate worlds. No main stream programming language has yet emerged that realizes this vision [7] Often language integration only deals with SQL or with XML but not with both [11, 24, 14, 17, 2]. Alternatively they start from a completely new language such as XQuery or XDuce [6, 22, 10] Approaches based on language binding using some kind of pre compiler such as XSD.exe, Castor, or JAXB [28, 1] do not achieve a real semantic integration. The impedance mismatch between the di#erent ....
