....the solution to the current problem. In addition to reporting feedback in the bottom window (Figure 2.2) an animated pedagogical agent (the genie) is used to gesture and verbalise feedback. Animated agents can facilitate learning by, for example, increasing the motivational levels of students [Sur99]. A current weakness in KERMIT is its lack of support for reflection. Allowing students the opportunity to reflect enables them to consider and question what they know, and is of benefit to the learning process.
