In practice, failures are correlated. Correlated faults can lead to reduced system availability or reliability [10]. This paper makes the following contributions. First, we give two examples in which fault tolerance can be increased by using independently failing components. Second, we present failure analysis framework that allow nodes that fail with low correlation to be chosen as the set of n machines. ....
