Abstract: The implementation of polymorphism in object-oriented programming languages provides a means by which new derived classes can be introduced into a running program. In statically typed, compiled object-oriented languages, such as C++, a program's class hierarchy is statically defined by a programmer in the source code for that program. After compilation this hierarchy of class definitions cannot be changed, or added to, without modifying and recompiling portions of the source code. In contrast,... (Update)
