Abstract: ion (SDA). SDAs are the central concept of the Coordination
Language Opus [9, 10].
An SDA generalizes Fortran 90 modules by including features from object-oriented data bases
and monitors in shared-memory languages. It consists of a set of data structures along with the
methods (procedures) which manipulate this data. "Handles" for an SDA may be passed to different
components of a program, thus enabling the access to the data and the invocation of methods of this
SDA.
