Abstract: We use optical flow to measure both the 2D and 3D growth of a young corn seedling from a sequence of 2D images. 3D growth is obtained by measuring the 2D growth from front and side views of the growing corn seedling. We use range flow (computed on range data from a Biris range sensor) to measure the 3D leaf motion of a castor oil bean plant. Our method gives the local 3D velocity of leaf surface elements in a local total least squares framework and in two global regularization frameworks. (Update)
