Abstract: In this report we present a strategy for architectural exploration with the view of reducing the time a designer spends in selecting an implementation that best suits his/her requirements and constraints. We develop an architecture taxonomy and relate designs to different architectural classes. In order to demonstrate the effectiveness of our exploration strategy we have tested it using four examples: a timer system, an FIR filter, an FFT datapath, and a robot kinematics system. We...
