Semantics of UML Statecharts in PVS (2000) [3 citations — 0 self]
Abstract:
In this paper, we provide semantics denition for UML statechart diagrams in the specication language of PVS (Prototype Verication System). We also propose a general framework for transformation of graphical UML diagrams into PVS specications, and show how the framework can be used in rigorous analysis of UML models by using the PVS tools. In a case study, we illustrate how the transformation framework can be used to create analyzable models from graphical UML models. This work is a part of a long-term vision to explore how the PVS tools could be used to underpin practical tools for UML model analysis. It also contributes to the ongoing eort to provide formal semantics for UML notations, with the aim of clarifying the language as well as supporting the development of semantically based tools.
