Abstract: A predominant issue in a ubiquitous computing world is that of future personal devices in the postPC
era. In this paper we present the Talking Assistant (TA), a prototype device we have developed to
serve as a personal device. The main function of the Talking Assistant is to serve as the user's digital
identity. In addition, the TA features local processing and storage, wireless networking capabilities,
and a set of sensors. We present the rationale behind developing the TA and discuss possible ... (Update)
