Abstract: Replication of data in a distributed system is a way to enhance the performance of applications that access the data. A system where data is replicated can provide better fault tolerance capabilities as well as improved response time. However, such improvement is achieved at the expense of having to manage replication by implementing replica control protocols. Such protocols are required to insure that data consistency is maintained in the face of system failures. In this article we describe... (Update)
