Abstract: This paper briefly presents a new discrimination network algorithm called Gator that is a generalization of the widely known Rete and TREAT algorithms. Gator is designed as a target for a discrimination network optimizer. Several strategies for optimizing Gator networks were implemented, and then tested and compared using randomly generated simulated rule structures as input.
