Abstract: : This paper discusses the research into persistence undertaken at the University of Adelaide in the 1990's, what we are currently doing and where we plan to take it. Persistence deals with the longevity of data beyond the execution of the application that created it. Our interest is in the support of persistence through the development of efficient persistent data stores and appropriate support at the programming language level with the intention of making the technology a part of every...
