Abstract: This paper presents the design of a high-level abstract data type (ADT) for programming a wide range of parallel applications involving adaptive computation. The "M-tree" ADT is a generalization of a quadtree, a hierarchical data structure used for organizing data generated by recursive decomposition. It is equipped with a rich set of access functions including higher-order operators abstracting commonly used computational patterns in parallel adaptive computation. This provides a... (Update)
