Abstract: This paper describes work in progress on the use of multithreaded processors as a target platform for rapid prototyping of embedded control systems. We give a short introduction to multithreaded processors in general and the MSparc---a SPARC V.8 based processor capable of multithreading with four contexts--- in particular. A rapid prototyping target platform mainly consisting of a MSparc processor and a FPGA-field is also presented. Finally, we show the design of an ignition control system used ... (Update)
