Abstract: This paper outlines a proposal for a novel approach to integration of COTS-based systems. Our methodology focuses on systems that operate in the same or similar application domains. Each COTS-based system is viewed in terms of the services it provides. We propose the use of a domain ontology and specially constructed service adapters to facilitate the sharing of these services with other COTS systems, effectively facilitating interoperability among them.
