Abstract: In this paper we present an approach to introducing preferences among actions in logic-based agent-oriented languages. These preferences are expressed in the body of rules (i.e., they are local to the rule where they are defined). To the best of our knowledge, no similar approach has been proposed before, and cannot be easily simulated by means of preferences expressed in the head of rules, which are global. The approach is applied to choosing which action an agent should perform in reaction to ... (Update)
