Abstract: A security framework called Solitary Confinement (SC), using virtual machines to divide a computer system into small disposable units is described. A mixture of traditional computer security with ideas inspired by biology and the immune system are used for the design of the framework, which reduces the amount of damage malicious and buggy software can inflict on a computer system. By constructing artificial cells using virtual machines and self-protecting components, resources on the system can ... (Update)
