Abstract: Genetic algorithms are a class of global search alg orithm inspired by biological evolution that return approximate solutions to difficult sear ch problems. Parallel niching genetic algorithms are a specialised type of genetic algori thm that search for and maintain multiple approximate solutions by grouping subpopul ations of candidate solutions around areas of interest in the search space. Crowding is one way of achieving a niching effect based on the concept of localised competition for l... (Update)
